Products are exported to dozens of countries and regions, with steady expansion in scale and optimized structure. Domestic scissors machines are transforming from "Made in China" to "Intelligent Made in China", becoming a new growth point in equipment manufacturing exports.
Reporters learned from the General Administration of Customs and industry associations that China's scissors machine exports are on a steady upward trend, covering hydraulic shearing machines, electric scissors and hand-held non-electric scissors, with hydraulic and electric garden scissors as the main exports. As a global key manufacturing and export base for cutting tools, Yangjiang alone contributes over 85% of national related exports. Data shows that in 2024, China's scissors machine exports rose 15.3% year-on-year, with hydraulic shearing machines at 48,000 units (up 12.7%) and electric scissors exports exceeding 3 billion yuan (up 18.9%), covering over 50 countries.
The export market is diversified, with emerging markets performing well. Europe and North America remain major destinations, accounting for 42% of 2024 exports, mainly high-precision CNC shearing machines and industrial electric scissors from enterprises like Jiangsu Jinfangyuan and Yawei. Emerging markets such as India, Vietnam and South Africa saw a 27.5% year-on-year export growth, with India up 35.2%, aligning with its "Make in India 2.0" plan. Southeast Asia and the Middle East also maintain steady growth.
Domestic enterprises are breaking through, led by leading players. Jiangsu Jianghai Machine Tool Group exports its "Jianghai Brand" shearing machines to over 30 countries, with export value exceeding 100 million yuan. Chaling Sanzhi (Zhuzhou) Technology signed a $1 million order for electric garden scissors for Italian customers and is exploring European markets. Yangjiang's Guangdong Nanxin Industrial achieved over $21 million in exports in 2023, up 2.53% year-on-year.
Policy support and standard improvement support exports. The tax department optimized export tax rebates, with Guangdong Nanxin getting over 8 million yuan in rebates in H1 2024. The establishment of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Daily Use Scissors and Knives is underway to promote Chinese standards globally. Domestic enterprises like Jiangsu Jianghai Machine Tool have passed ISO9001 certification, laying a solid foundation for exports.
Despite the good momentum, challenges remain. International brands like Japan's AMADA and Belgium's LVD dominate the high-end market, while domestic products are mainly mid-to-low-end (accounting for less than 20% of high-end exports). Some SMEs face homogenization and low-price competition; trade barriers and exchange rate fluctuations also bring pressure.
Industry experts suggest focusing on technological innovation and brand building. Enterprises should increase R&D, upgrade product precision and intelligence, and improve overseas after-sales services. Relevant departments and industry associations should optimize policies and promote group exports to enhance overall competitiveness.
Looking ahead, with advancing technology, rising brand influence and "Belt and Road" market expansion, China's scissors machine exports are expected to grow steadily, doubling 2024's volume by 2027, with domestic high-end products breaking international monopoly.
